Office of Reentry

Mission: In Chicago's fragmented re-entry ecosystem, the Office of Reentry will convene, communicate, and coordinate to create an equitable and holistic reentry process that values dignity and needs of returning residents, their families, and the broader community. 

Vision: Reentry services are accessible, easy to navigate, and dynamic to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to heal and grow, contributing to a healthier, more inclusive city. 



Meet the Director of Re-Entry

Joseph Mapp is a dedicated family man, seasoned restorative justice practitioner, and esteemed community leader with personal experience navigating the justice system as a system-impacted individual. As the Director of Reentry, his vision has the power to transform the landscape of support for individuals coming back to community after incarceration. Under his leadership, the Office of Reentry is dedicated to empowering individuals and fostering resilient communities through innovative and compassionate strategies. Joseph’s impactful work continues to make a substantial difference in the lives of many, ensuring that retuning residents are supported and that communities thrive. 

In his previous roles As a leader of the Back of the Yards efforts to Scale Community Violence Intervention for a Safer Chicago, Joseph has demonstrated his ability to understand how to meet the needs of those reentering the community to support nonviolence. His role as Director of Reentry for Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation, a key partner of Communities Partnering for Peace, highlights his commitment to holistic and community-centered approaches that include supportive housing, mental health support, and meaningful employment.
