In the 2021 budget, the City allocated over $50 million in funding toward violence prevention initiatives. The funding sources are: the City's general fund (corporate), cannabis tax revenue from the State of Illinois (Cannabis Regulatory Act), and federal COVID relief funding (CDBG CARES Act).
