Following the introduction The Chicago Department of Housing (DOH) has passed an ordinance allowing for the sale and transfer of Karibuni Place located at 8200 S Ellis and to allow the assumption of the regulatory agreement, loan documents and existing associated city debt.

Karibuni Place is four-story brick building that houses 72 residents. The property is intended to provide permanent supportive housing with services to formerly homeless individuals. The building consists of 60 studio units at 50% Area Median Income (AMI), 11 one-bedrooms at 80% AMI, and one one-bedroom at market rate.
