The satellite senior centers, part of the Mayor’s vision to keep Chicago’s neighborhoods active, accessible and affordable for Chicago’s senior population, provide services, programs and activities closer to seniors on the neighborhood level.

• These facilities will range in size from 7,000 to 9,000 square feet, and accommodate 100 to 150 seniors on a daily basis.
• Satellite senior centers are managed and operated by not-for-profit organizations under cooperative agreements with the City. Programs are provided by the City and site operators.
• Satellite senior centers are open to seniors, age 60 and above and to “baby boomers,” age 55 to 59. (Regional Centers serve seniors, age 60 and above, only).
• Services provided at the centers include, but are not limited to: Chicago Fitness Plus (with personal trainers and state-of-the-art fitness equipment at most locations); Health Promotion and Wellness Education with medical providers (nurse, nutritionist, pharmacist, social worker) and massage therapy; Computer Classes with Internet Access; Golden Diners daily lunch program; Educational programs (English-as-a-Second Language, Spanish); Life Enrichment activities (art, arts and crafts, dance, Karaoke, special events, parties, trips and tours, etc.); Information and Assistance, including benefits eligibility assessments.
