Thank you for your wonderful support of the New Vecinos program. New Life Centers has resumed receiving donations including clothing donations and will be open to the public on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9am-1pm. Items can be dropped off at 4401 W. Ogden Ave.
For residents and organizations interested in making a quick and direct impact, Instituto del Progreso Latino is now accepting monetary donations to purchase items for new arrivals in bulk. Donations can be made on their website by visiting this link
Amazon Wish ListAdditionally, residents can purchase items directly from an Amazon Wish List set up in partnership with Instituto del Progreso Latino. This Wish List is regularly updated to meet the needs of new arrivals in the City’s shelters and respite facilities. You can find the Wish List by clicking Rapid Response Wish List on Amazon or at InstitutoChicago.org. New Life Centers is working directly with the City of Chicago and Illinois Department of Human Services to resettle hundreds of families a week from shelters into permanent housing. New Life also work to welcome newly arrived people at the Intake Center and have a team that delivers basic emergency items at all shelters throughout the city as needed. Ogden Ave. Check List includes: Clothing (season appropriate, new and gently used), new underwear, socks, and sports bras, winter coats, gloves/mittens, hats, sweatshirts/hoodies, sweatpants, new hygiene items (shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste), unopened diapers, pull-ups, and diaper wipes, blankets, sheets, towels, houseware items (pans, pots, utensils, plates, and cups). All gently used items must be washed and in ready to wear conditions. You can also support New Life Centers through their Amazon Wish List. Financial donations are also being accepted here. One Warm Coat is a national nonprofit organization that provides free coats to children and adults in need while promoting volunteerism and environmental sustainability. Chicago residents can find a place to donate coats near them by searching by zip code here: onewarmcoat.org/share-warmth/donate-coats/ or can register to hold a coat drive here: onewarmcoat.org/share-warmth/hold-a-coat-drive/ In addition, One Warm Coat is coordinating donations of new outerwear for migrant families in Chicago through its Zero Waste Initiative. One Warm Coat is also accepting monetary donations (minimum of $5,000) to purchase new coats at wholesale prices. |
Cradles to Crayons Chicago is partnering with New Life Centers to provide clothing, shoes, and basic essential items for new arrivals. Cradles to Crayons Chicago is the only large-scale organization addressing clothing insecurity: the lack of access to affordable, adequate, and appropriate clothing. The organization provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive through their service partners. In order to fulfill the need in Chicago, they need donations of gently used clothing, shoes, and winter coats as well as new socks, underwear, and pajamas. Share Our Spare ensures every Chicago area child, ages 0-5, has the essential items they need to support their health and development and equip them for a strong start. We do this through collecting donations of new and gently used early childhood items from community members and redistributing them through our network of 150+ other nonprofit organizations who work directly with young children and their families who are experiencing poverty.
