The Michigan/Cermak TIF was designated to support the development of anchor projects along Cermak Road that support the Near South Side community and the expansion of the nearby McCormick Place convention center. Covering 15 full and partial blocks, district resources are intended for projects that facilitate the assembly and preparation of underutilized sites for new development and for the rehabilitation of existing buildings. Priorities also include street and traffic improvements, enhanced landscaping, and upgraded utilities to support the current and future needs of the convention center and adjacent businesses. The district is also designed to support job training and readiness programs.
