Located in West Englewood on land that included a Chicago Transit Authority bus barn until 1998, the 69th/Ashland TIF district includes predominately vacant properties along with limited residential and commercial buildings. The 18-acre district is intended to promote a mix of uses on Ashland Avenue between 69th and 71st streets, and retail growth to the west along 69th. In providing site assembly assistance and other development incentives, the district is also intended to modify land uses to modern themes and promote residential development in appropriate locations for a diverse economic mix of residents.
