26th/King TIF

Designation: 2006    Expiration: 2030

The 26th/King Drive TIF district was created to foster the revitalization of two blocks of underutilized land around the Mercy Hospital campus on the Near South Side. It is designed to aid site assembly efforts and help finance improvements to streets and sewer systems, sidewalks and alleys, and other public spaces used by hospital patrons and workers. In fostering the growth of a diverse economic and demographic mix of new residents, the district is also intended to facilitate the creation of affordable housing, parking and job opportunities. The TIF has or will utilize $60 million in public dollars to attract nearly $202 million in private investment.
