As the winning submission for the Lake & Kedzie RFQ, Hub 32 is a seventy-five-foot tall, seven-story mixed-use development designed by Brooks Scarpa and Studio Dwell, inspired by the concept of quilting and stitching. The design inspiration is meant to honor the City’s history as a textile manufacturing hub and signal the stitching together of the Garfield Park community. The proposed development consists of 63 residential dwelling units, 5,600 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, a community room, a courtyard and a rooftop terrace. The building is clad with brick, wood siding, dark metal panels and anodized finished aluminum window shrouds. The building’s façade treatment is meant to provide a sense of richness and depth.
