City support for a $13.95 million “eco-food and culinary hub” planned for the former Green Street firehouse in Englewood will be modified under a revised public assistance plan approved by City Council today.
Previously approved to receive up to $6 million in Tax Increment Financing (TIF) assistance over three phases, the project’s updated terms consist of $7 million in TIF over a single phase to address recent increases in labor and materials costs.
Known as Englewood Connect, the project by McLaurin Development and Farpoint Development consists of the fire station’s interior buildout as a food-related business incubator and event space employing more than 45 people.
The $1 sale price for the City-owned firehouse, built for Engine Co. #84 at 6204 N. Green, remains unchanged.
Any subsequent phases proposed for City assistance would require new redevelopment agreements subject to City Council approval.
