Freedom of Information Act
Procedure and Contacts
If you are seeking records about CDOT or its projects or programs, your request must be in writing. This includes information such as:
- When a permanent metal street sign was installed
- What public construction occurred in a given area
- A street lane configuration or pavement markings
You may send your written request for records via:
- e-mail: cdotfoia@cityofchicago.org
- fax: 312.744.1200
- mail: Freedom of Information Officer, CDOT, 30 N. LaSalle Street, Suite 1100, Chicago, IL, 60602
Your request must be in writing in order for us to properly respond. Please be specific about the records you are seeking, and indicate exact locations and dates. Please indicate in your request how you’d like the information sent to you: via e-mail or regular mail, or made available for pickup at our office.
Due to the volume of requests we receive, the most efficient way for us to respond to questions about the status of a request, or any other question, is via e-mail to cdotfoia@cityofchicago.org.
