Overview

CDOT is reconstructing Milwaukee Avenue from Belmont Avenue to Logan Square. The design includes pedestrian, bicycle, and bus stop improvements along with traffic signal, landscaping, and lighting enhancements.

Project Goals & Infrastructure Highlights

  • Roadway reconstruction, traffic signal modernization, new street lighting, and new parkway trees.
  • Raised crosswalks along side streets, allowing people to easily cross the street at sidewalk level and encourage drivers to slow down before the crosswalk.
  • Curb bump-outs to reduce crossing distances for people crossing the street, increase safe space for pedestrians, and reduce speeds of turning vehicles.
  • Bike lanes on Milwaukee Avenue where there is no existing bike infrastructure.
  • Logan Square reconfiguration featuring improved pedestrian access, protected off-street bicycle paths around the Square, and increased public space.
  • La Placita construction featuring increased pedestrian space and unified public space, incorporating community input.
