79th/Cicero TIF

Designation: 2005    Expiration: 2029

The 79th/Cicero TIF district encompasses the Scottsdale Shopping Center which, when built in 1955, was one of Chicago's first auto-oriented shopping malls. The central purpose of the TIF is to help redevelop the mall with more contemporary construction standards and modern retailing principles. Twenty one acres in size, the TIF provides resources for infrastructure investments involving alleys, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, and other improvements that encourage the mall's use by residents of the Ashburn community and other nearby areas. Funds are also targeted to provide buffer areas between the mall and adjacent residential properties and to implement site preparation and assembly projects.
