(6th and 17th Wards) | A proposed resolution to adopt the 79th Street Corridor Plan. The proposed plan is a collaborative effort led by the Department of Planning and Development and the Regional Transportation Authority to revitalize commercial activity along 79th Street between Ashland Avenue and Vincennes Avenue and South Halsted Street from West 77th Street to West 83rd Street. The study, which began in 2022, is the culmination of a community-driven approach over 2 years to establish goals and strategies to guide future growth along 79th street. Included in the plan are recommendations aim to optimize land use for local businesses and affordable housing, improve multi-modal transportation, and drive economic development along the 79th Street Corridor.
