City Acquisition Proposed for Former Grand Boulevard Park
Department of Planning and Development 312.744.9267
The site of the former Robert Jackson Park in Grand Boulevard would be acquired by the City from the Chicago Park District to better utilize the diminutive space for residential development under a proposal introduced to City Council today by Mayor Brandon Johnson.
The Park District recently closed the .23-acre park at 4319 S. Indiana Ave. due to its small size, lack of use and ongoing maintenance costs. The proposed purchase price is $1.
Once acquired, the Department of Planning and Development would appraise the property and make the land available for housing construction through ChiBlockBuilder.com.
