Seven single-family homes would be built in Woodlawn through City-owned land sales introduced today to City Council by Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

The $2.7 million project by Bloom on Marquette LLC would be built on the site of a former commercial laundry and dry cleaning establishment on the 1300 block of East Marquette Road. Appraised at $62,000, the land would be sold for $1 in recognition of an estimated $240,000 in remediation and related costs needed to prepare the sites for construction.

Each two-story, 2,100-square-foot home would have four bedrooms and two baths and be priced at $389,900.

The project is expected to be completed by the summer of 2018.
