SAFE Ambassadors
The SAFE Ambassadors are the outreach and engagement team within the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT). SAFE stands for Streets Are For Everybody. Since 2001, the Ambassadors have provided direct education and encouragement to Chicagoans regarding traffic safety, active transportation options, and multiple CDOT projects.
The Ambassadors offer free programming and activities across the city such as safety presentations, literature, trainings and workshops, and bicycling education activities.

Learn to Ride
Every summer, the Ambassadors facilitate “Learn to Ride” bike riding classes for adults and children. There are multiple classes designed for all experience levels – for Chicagoans who have never ridden a bike to those who want to brush up on skills and gain confidence.
Junior Ambassadors
The Junior Ambassadors are the only peer-to-peer bicycle and pedestrian safety education program in North America. The Junior Ambassadors present at Chicago Park District day camps and community events engaging 6 to 12-year-olds throughout the city, teaching bicycle skills and traffic safety tips.
