Mayor Brandon Johnson is committed to preventing and ending homelessness, and your insights are key to shaping the path forward. The Mayor's Office of Homelessness is partnering with community organizations to develop a Five-Year Plan focused on creating a unified response for people experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless.
This begins with ACCTion:
Awareness of challenges,
Curiosity to explore solutions,
Connection within the community, and
Transformation through real change.
Experiencing homelessness includes a variety of living situations, such as sleeping outside, staying in a shelter or temporary housing, or staying temporarily in someone else’s home ("couch surfing" or "doubled-up"). On any given day in Chicago, thousands of people are experiencing homelessness, with the number continuously rising.
Homelessness in Chicago affects every neighborhood -- last year 28,600 Chicago Public School students from pre-K through high school experienced housing instability. Homelessness not only disrupts education and child development—it also places strain on families, schools, health systems, and the social fabric of our communities.
Please complete this brief 6-question survey that explores various aspects of homelessness, including its causes and impacts, to provide valuable insights for shaping future solutions and driving change in Chicago. By taking this survey, you’re helping Chicago take ACCTion toward a future where everyone has a safe, stable place to call home.
Thank you for joining us in developing solutions!
