Community Meets Governance: Defining Co-Governance

Co-governance, where community meets governance, is an effort to define collaborative governance or how government decision-makers can share power with the community to shape policy, practices, and programs.

The Office of Equity and Racial Justice (OERJ) and Chicago United for Equity (CUE) launched a Co-Governance Steering Committee of cross-sectored individuals who will guide the City of Chicago's co-governance framework. This entails creating a shared definition, values, and principles and identifying opportunities to model this definition in key government-community partnerships.
