CUBS VS WHITE SOX AT WRIGLEY Field Tuesday and Wednesday for first crosstown series this season
OEMC reminds fans and residents to expect increased traffic in the area and call 9-1-1 to report suspicious activity
Chicago baseball goes local today and tomorrow at Wrigley Field for the first Chicago White Sox vs Chicago Cubs series this baseball season. The Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) reminds fans and residents around Wrigley Field to be aware of the increased activity and traffic in the area as well as night game parking restrictions and security measures in place. Fans are encouraged to be mindful of each other and respect the surrounding community.
“As baseball fans converge on Wrigley Field for the Crosstown Series, OEMC is encouraging all to enjoy the games safely. This anticipated series is always a highlight of the baseball season and we urge everyone to be respectful of the community and prepared for weather conditions. Anticipate increased traffic in the area. Fans and residents can do their part by remaining aware of surroundings and report suspicious persons or objects to 9-1-1,” said OEMC Director Rich Guidice. “We continue to work with our public safety partners to make adjustments in operations as needed around the ballpark to keep everyone safe. Please adhere to public safety guidelines for the benefit of all.”
Chicago Cubs
The Chicago Cubs play the Chicago White Sox at Wrigley Field on Tuesday, May 3 and Wednesday, May 4 at 6:40 p.m. The gates open 90 minutes prior to start time. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to allow enough time for security screenings and should also be mindful to keep sidewalks passable and yield to emergency vehicles. Cubs Hotline
- The home game-day hotline number, 866-4-CPD-TOW, is operational before, during and after games.
- The hotline is operated by the Chicago Police Department to assist neighborhood residents with non-emergency issues relating to Wrigley Field during Cubs home games.
- For all emergencies, call 9-1-1.

Use caution during heavy rains and do not attempt to navigate through flooded areas or viaducts.
Rideshare/Taxi’s, Limo’s for all Home Games:
Fans traveling to Wrigley Field throughout the season using rideshare or TNP services should be dropped off/picked up at the following locations:
- Irving Park Road (Clark Street to Seminary Avenue)
- Northbound Halsted south of Bradley Place
- Southbound Halsted south of Brompton Avenue
- Westbound Addison Southport to Lakewood Avenue
- Southbound Clark Roscoe to School Street
ADA
ADA Paratransit pick up and drop off is located on Waveland between Clifton and Seminary.
Traffic Plan
- Truck access will be restricted two hours before the game and one hour after the game, or until pedestrian flow is reduced to normal operations.
- Street closures in the area may be implemented to ensure the public safety.
- Motorists in the area should be prepared for traffic slowdowns adjacent to the ballpark, which will be implemented by public safety officials, should conditions warrant.
- To assist with increased traffic and activity at the ballparks, the Traffic Management Authority (TMA) will deploy traffic control aides (TCA’s) on game days.
Public Transportation
- Public transportation is recommended. Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) offers lots of options for getting to the game and extra service on opening game days. For CTA Train and Bus information, visit www.transitchicago.com.
Parking
- Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced. If your vehicle is towed, call 3-1-1 City Services to obtain assistance in locating your vehicle.
- During Cubs home night games this season, those around Wrigley Field should be cognizant of the night game LV2 permit parking and read signage before parking.
- Take advantage of the bicycle valet service, located on Waveland Avenue, for Chicago Cubs games and concerts at Wrigley Field. The bike check begins two hours before and one hour after games/events. In addition, there are bike racks located around the park as well.
- The remote lot is available with shuttle service to the ballpark.
Alcohol, Peddling and Parking Enforcement
Throughout the season, the Chicago Police Department stresses the strict enforcement of public intoxication ordinances and DUI laws, as well as City and State liquor laws that prohibit over-serving and serving alcohol to minors. Additionally, the peddling of goods without a license and the selling or soliciting the sale of residential parking passes is illegal. The Chicago Police will have an increased presence around Wrigley Field to ensure public safety on game days.
