GTT Collection at Airports Expanded to Include More Public Vehicles
Effective 8/1/2018, Chicago’s Ground Transportation Tax will be collected at O’Hare and Midway Airports for all public vehicles except those licensed pursuant to Chapter 9-112 of the Chicago Municipal Code (Chicago taxis) and those operating pursuant to Chapter 9-115 of the Chicago Municipal Code (transportation network providers). Those affected will be required to pay the Ground Transportation Tax at the airport once for each day the vehicle departs from any airport with a passenger.
Registration period begins 7/19/2018
All license holders/vehicle owners must have a valid City tax account number to begin the registration process.
Beginning 7/19/2018, all license holders/vehicle owners must register on the GTT application using their City tax account number. Upon registration you will be required to add a method of payment to your account.
Before you begin, please ensure you have the following:
- City of Chicago Tax Account Number in good standing (registered for Ground Transportation Tax and no active holds)
- City of Chicago PIN – previously used to access WebTax
- Method of payment: credit card or bank account number and routing number
- Valid, accessible e-mail address to activate your account
