The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) opened a new showroom this week at Chicago Midway International Airport where homeowners can view full-size samples of windows, doors, and storm doors available to participants in the Residential Sound Insulation Program (RSIP).

The showroom is open by appointment to homeowners who previously had windows replaced and are now eligible for odor mitigation, all of whom have been notified of their eligibility by U.S. mail. It will also be open to first-time RSIP participants receiving new windows for noise mitigation when the next enrollment period begins in 2023. 

The CDA hosted two in-person Homeowner Briefings this week to educate homeowners about the next steps in the RSIP process. Attendees were notified of the location of the new showroom at Midway’s Central Field Office, 5642 S. Central Ave., ahead of its opening for homeowner appointments on Wednesday. 

The new Midway showroom complements the existing showroom at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, located in the Aviation Administration Building, 10510 W. Zemke Road. Both showrooms are open to eligible residents by appointment only. 

Residents whose homes are determined to be eligible for the program are notified via a letter from the CDA. Homeowners can schedule a visit by calling the RSIP office at (773) 894-3636 for O’Hare homeowners, (773) 838-5632 for Midway homeowners, or via email at customerservice@cmcpartners-rsip.com.

The Residential Sound Insulation Program provides noise mitigation to homeowners impacted by operations at O’Hare and Midway, overseen by the O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission (ONCC) and Midway Noise Compatibility Commission (MNCC). Since the noise commissions were formed in 1996, more than 21,600 homes have been sound-insulated near Chicago’s airports at a combined cost of more than $574 million.
