STI Specialty Clinics

We operate three STI specialty clinics to diagnose and treat common sexually transmitted infections and provide partner services. Residents can also pick up free condoms and learn more about other HIV prevention methods like PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis).

HIV/STI Partner Services

Notifying your sex and/or needle-sharing partners is one of the many FREE services offered by the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH).

HIV/STI Prevention

Today there are more tools than ever available to prevent HIV. Strategies can include abstinence, using condoms every time you have sex, and never sharing needles, as well as HIV prevention medicines such as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). If you have HIV, there are many actions you can take to prevent transmitting HIV to others.

STI/HIV Testing and STI Treatment

The Chicago Department of Public Health provides free testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) at the Specialty Clinics. The CDPH Care Clinics provide HIV and primary care services for patients living with HIV.

GTZ Dashboard

Getting to Zero Illinois is a statewide initiative to end the HIV epidemic by 2030. The GTZ-IL Data Dashboard helps users track progress toward the initiative's goals and strategies of HIV prevention and access to care. The dashboard was designed by Northwestern University in collaboration with CDPH, the AIDS Foundation Chicago, nd the Illinois Department of Public Health.

PrEP Info 

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) is an essential tool to reduce HIV transmission. It is a daily dose of antiretroviral medication that helps prevent HIV infection. When used consistently, studies show that PrEP is more than 90% effective at preventing transmission.

Kevin's Room (2001). Produced by the Chicago Department of Public Health and Black Cat Productions, Kevin's Room is a 60-minute film that follows a Black social worker who starts a gay men's support group. As a group they discuss such issues as HIV testing, relationships, AIDS, and sexual risk taking among Black gay men.
