The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) announced that emergency bridge repairs on the Chicago Avenue Bridge over the Chicago River North Branch will require the full closure of the bridge to motor vehicular traffic from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the next three days, from Wednesday through Friday. At other times, one lane will be open on the bridge in both directions. The bridge will remain open to pedestrian and bicycle traffic during the full closures.

The closures are needed to make repairs to the grating on the bridge deck and to the supporting beams. Traffic on the bridge was reduced to one lane in each direction earlier today after inspectors determined the repairs were necessary.

The full closures will require the temporary reroute of CTA’s #66 Chicago buses. Eastbound #66 buses will be rerouted from Chicago to Halsted to Division to Larrabee, then resume their normal route on Chicago. Westbound #66 buses will travel the reverse route.
