The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) is issuing a reminder to the public about upcoming traffic impacts due to ongoing projects on North and South DuSable Lake Shore Drive. Starting next week, drivers should be prepared for the following lane closures:

South DuSable Lake Shore Drive – 31^st Street to Roosevelt Road

May 20 – 24 and May 28: Southbound lane closures will be in effect. Two lanes will be closed from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m. daily; three lanes will be closed during daytime working hours between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

All lanes will reopen by early Saturday, May 25 for the Memorial Day weekend. Lane closures will go back into place on Tuesday, May 28.

North DuSable Lake Shore Drive – Hollywood Avenue to LaSalle Drive

May 20 – May 24: Southbound lane closures will be in effect. Two lanes will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. One lane will remain closed continuously throughout the week.

All lanes will reopen for Memorial Day weekend. 

Please note that lane closure schedules and work timings are subject to change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.

CDOT advises drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time when traveling on DLSD, to take alternate routes if possible, and encourages people to use public transportation. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and construction signage when entering and driving near work zones, obey the posted speed limits, drive with extra caution, and be alert for workers and equipment.
