Detour During Full Closures Via LaSalle Street; One Weekend Full Closure Also Scheduled
The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) announced today that a bridge painting project starting this Friday, April 10th, will require the closure of at least one lane and one of the sidewalks on the Clark St. Bridge over the Chicago River for the next six weeks and the full overnight closure of the bridge on weeknights. One weekend full closure is also scheduled, April 24-27.
The project is scheduled for completion by Memorial Day weekend, weather permitting. The Clark St. Bridge is being painted as part of CDOT’s regular bridge maintenance program. By painting on a regular cycle and performing routine repairs, the city is able to extend the life of the bridges that are a vital part of the city’s transportation network.
CDOT announced that on weekdays and weekends, two traffic lanes will be open on the bridge, which carries southbound traffic, with one lane and one sidewalk closed. On Monday through Thursday nights, the bridge will be fully closed to traffic and pedestrians from 7 pm to 6 am the following morning. In addition, there will be one full closure of the bridge starting at 7 pm on Friday April 24th until 6 am Monday April 27th.
A detour will be in place for southbound traffic via Kinzie St. to LaSalle St.
