Mayor Rahm Emanuel and U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) Secretary Ray LaHood today participated in the Bike to Work rally and celebrated the installation of the first Divvy bike-sharing station at Daley Plaza.

“Bike sharing is another large step we’re taking to make Chicago the best big city in America for cycling,” Mayor Rahm Emanuel. “We are improving our bicycling infrastructure to create the quality of life that will attract businesses and families to Chicago. Divvy bikes will provide Chicagoans and visitors with more options for getting around our neighborhoods.”

"In communities across the country, Americans are demanding transportation options, including safe and convenient bicycle infrastructure," said U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood. "With the help of our TIGER funding, Chicago's Divvy bike share joins over 20 American cities that are benefiting from this program. This year is truly the year of the bike share."
