CDOT installed a new protected bike lane and pedestrian improvements on Jackson Boulevard from Halsted Street to Ashland Avenue in 2023. The project was designed and implemented in coordination with the Illinois Department of Transportation. Vehicle travel lanes, parking, and bike lanes were reconfigured to promote safer driving speeds and better space for biking and walking along the corridor.
- New low-stress cycling option on Chicago’s Near West Side
- Improved safety for people walking with shorter, more visible crossing locations
