Winter Weather Advisory
This Evening at **6 p.m. until Thursday, February 6 at 6 a.m.
WHAT: A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service in Chicago.
WHEN: The Advisory will be in effect from **6 p.m. Wednesday, February 5 through Thursday, February 6 at 6 a.m.
WHERE: Portions of north central and northeast Illinois.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
A wintry mix, including freezing rain, will spread across the area beginning Wednesday evening and through the night. Temperatures will rise above freezing, and precipitation will erode from south to north throughout the night. The peak icing period will be between 6 p.m. and 12 a.m. Wednesday evening into Thursday morning. Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan for slippery road conditions, including during the Wednesday evening commute. Motorists should slow down and use caution while traveling. The Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) will work closely with the National Weather Service (NWS) to monitor weather conditions 24/7 and alert the public to any changes.
