REGULAR MEETING
August 17, 2023
The next regular public meeting of the Police Board is scheduled for Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. This meeting will be in person at Chicago Public Safety Headquarters, 3510 South Michigan Avenue.
CAN-TV plans to carry the meeting live on Channel 27 and https://cantv.org/watch/stream-can-tv27/
Prior sign-up is required of those wishing to address the Board. To add your name to the list of speakers, please contact the Board's office at PoliceBoard@cityofchicago.org or 312-742-4194 by 4:00pm on the day of the meeting, or sign up at the meeting before it begins.
The agenda for the public portion of the meeting is as follows:
- Approval of minutes of past meetings
- Next regular public meeting of the Board: Thursday, September 21, 2023, 7:30 p.m., Chicago Public Safety Headquarters
- Statement on the arbitrator's recent opinions on regarding police disciplinary cases
- Overview of the Inspector General’s report “Review of the Disciplinary Grievance Procedure for Chicago Police Department Members"
- Presentation by Walter Katz on police discipline, arbitration, and transparency
- Final action on police disciplinary cases
- Final action on police officer applicant appeals
- Report of the Superintendent of Police
- Report of the Chief Administrator of the Civilian Office of Police Accountability
- Questions and comments from the public (Prior sign-up is required of those wishing to address the Board--see above)
Prior to the public portion of the meeting, the Board will meet in closed session and consider the following matters as authorized by Sections 2(c)(1), (4), (11) and (21) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act. The agenda for the closed session consists of discussion of the following matters:
- Minutes of past closed meetings
- Police disciplinary cases
- Police officer applicant appeals
- Pending litigation
