2024 Conference FAQ
You will find information about Malcom X, including information about getting to the venue, taking public transit, and free validated parking here. If you have additional questions about the event venue or space, please reach out to ashley.becht@cityofchicago.org.
Free parking is available inside of the Malcom X garage, situated right next to the conference center. On arrival CDPH volunteers will be on site to greet you, check you in and validate your parking, if you are parked in this garage. There is street and nearby parking that is paid as well, but those fees are not covered by Malcom X nor CDPH. Registration for any applicable CMEs is collected at the time of registration. The St. Louis STI/HIV Prevention Training Center is providing CME credit through the MSMA. Credits for this training will be provided by them upon completion of the post-conference assessment.
Note: For providers seeking credits who do not hold an MD, the St Louis PTC will provide a certificate of attendance and CDPH will assist in validating your participation in any way we can.
Yes! We will post the available presentations as PDFs on the agenda page for viewing after the conference. Presentation PDFs will be available for 90 days after the conference.

The CDPH Office of Surveillance is responsible for reporting morbidity to the Illinois Department of Public Health [IDPH] and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC]. As a provider, the expectation is to report accurate and timely information so as to ensure adequate tracking and identification of disease prevalence in high morbidity communities. This collaborative effort between the provider and the Office of Surveillance makes it possible to develop and provide recommendations that maximize disease control interventions.
We would encourage you to sign up for the Chicago Health Alert Network [HAN] at www.chicagohan.org to receive important public health updates and alerts, such as new treatment guidelines, disease outbreak notices, etc.
The State of Illinois Administrative Code [Title 77 § 693.30, Title 77 § 697.210, Title 77 § 690.451 & Title 77 § 690.452] mandates that health care professionals and their designee[s] report specific information to the health department regarding STI, HIV, and Viral Hepatitis B & C testing, diagnosis, and/or treatment. The CDPH Office of Surveillance is responsible for reporting morbidity to the Illinois Department of Public Health [IDPH] and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC]. Reporting to the Office of Surveillance occurs electronically through the Illinois' National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (I-NEDSS) or via the Chicago Health Information Management System (CHIMS). In 2021, the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) Syndemic Infectious Disease Bureau, Office of Surveillance started accepting confidential syphilis, congenital syphilis, and HIV/AIDS case report forms electronically via the Chicago Health Information Management System (CHIMS) Provider Portal. In 2023, electronic reports for viral hepatitis C can be submitted via CHIMS. Healthcare professionals (and designees) will need to apply and be approved for a Provider Portal account via the CHIMS Provider Portal Account Application System before morbidity reports can be submitted via CHIMS. Continuing Education Information
Accreditation Statement
The Syndemic Infectious Disease Bureau has established a strong, working relationship with national network of HIV/STI Prevention Training Centers. This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Missouri State Medical Association (MSMA) through the joint provider ship of St. Lous STD/HIV Prevention Training Center and the Chicago Department of Public Health. The St. Louis STD/HIV Prevention Training Center is accredited by the MSMA to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Designation Statement
The St. Louis STD/HIV Prevention Training Center designates this activity for a maximum of 6 Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Completion of the evaluation is required to receive continuing education credit.
All other participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
