North DuSable Lake Shore Drive Resurfacing: Week of September 29th
The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) today announced traffic impacts related to the ongoing resurfacing of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive (DLSD) between LaSalle Drive and Hollywood Avenue. Upcoming work will require temporary full closures of all lanes, where work is being performed, beginning the evening of Sunday, September 29th. All work is expected to be completed by late-October.
The upcoming schedule for the week of September 29th is as follows. Based upon the forecasted weather, the below traffic impacts are subject to change:
In effect through Sunday night: The southbound left lane will remain closed between Irving Park and Diversey.
Sunday, September 29th: Beginning at 6:00 p.m. all southbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Dr. will be closed between Irving Park Rd. and Fullerton Ave. This will include closing all entrance and exit ramps between Irving Park Rd. and Fullerton Ave. All southbound vehicles will exit at Irving Park Rd. and detour to Fullerton Ave. via Inner DLSD, Sheridan Rd, and Cannon Dr. All lanes will open by 6:00 a.m. the following morning.
Monday, September 30th: Beginning at 7:00 p.m., northbound DLSD will be reduced to one lane between Lawrence Ave. and Hollywood Ave. and all ramps will remain open. Beginning at 9:00 p.m. all northbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Dr. will be closed between Lawrence Ave. and Hollywood Ave. This will include closing all entrance and exit ramps between Lawrence Ave and Hollywood Ave. The northbound exit ramp at Lawrence Ave. will remain open to detour traffic. All lanes will open by 7:00 a.m. the following morning.
Tuesday, October 1st: Beginning at 7:00 p.m., both northbound and southbound DLSD will be reduced to one lane between Hollywood Ave. and Foster Ave. and all ramps will remain open. Beginning at 9:00 p.m. all northbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Dr. will be closed between Bryn Mawr Ave. and Hollywood Ave. as well as all southbound lanes between Hollywood Ave. and Foster Ave. This will include closing the southbound entrance ramp at Bryn Mawr Ave. The northbound exit ramp at Bryn Mawr Ave. and southbound entrance ramp at Foster Ave. will remain open to detour traffic. All lanes will open by 6:00 a.m. the following morning.
Wednesday, October 2nd: Beginning at 7:00 p.m., southbound DLSD will be reduced to one lane between Hollywood Ave. and Lawrence Ave. and all ramps will remain open. Beginning at 9:00 p.m. all southbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Dr. will be closed between Hollywood Ave. and Lawrence Ave. This will include closing all entrance and exit ramps between Hollywood Ave. and Lawrence Ave. The southbound entrance ramp at Lawrence Ave. will remain open to detour traffic. All lanes will open by 6:00 a.m. the following morning.
Thursday, October 3rd: Beginning at 7:00 p.m., southbound DLSD will be reduced to one lane between Irving Park Rd. and Fullerton Ave. and all ramps will remain open. Beginning at 9:00 p.m. all southbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Dr. will be closed between Irving Park Rd. and Fullerton Ave. This will include closing all entrance and exit ramps between Irving Park Rd. and Fullerton Ave. All southbound vehicles will exit at Irving Park Rd. and detour to Fullerton Ave. via Inner DLSD, Sheridan Rd, and Cannon Dr. All lanes will open by 6:00 a.m. the following morning.
Friday, October 4th: The work starting Thursday night requiring full traffic closure will be reopened to traffic by 6:00 a.m.
CDOT advises drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time when traveling. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and construction signage when entering and driving near work zones, obey the posted speed limits, and be alert for workers and equipment.
