Traffic Alert: Upcoming Lane Closures on DuSable Lake Shore Drive
Overnight lane closures beginning May 27 on North DLSD
The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) announced updated traffic impacts related to two ongoing pavement repair projects on North and South DuSable Lake Shore Drive.
North DuSable Lake Shore Drive – Irving Park to LaSalle Drive
- May 27 (overnight) – May 28: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.: Three southbound lanes will be closed to traffic.
- May 28 – May 31: 6:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. daily: Three southbound lanes will be closed to traffic overnight. One lane will remain closed throughout the week.
South DuSable Lake Shore Drive – Roosevelt to 31st Street
- May 28 – May 29: Southbound lane closures will be in effect. Two lanes will be closed from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m. daily; three lanes will be closed during daytime working hours between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
- May 30 – May 31: Northbound lane closures will be in effect. Two lanes will be closed from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m. daily; three lanes will be closed during daytime working hours between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Please note that lane closure schedules and work timings are subject to change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.
CDOT advises drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time when traveling on DLSD, to take alternate routes if possible, and encourages people to use public transportation. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and construction signage when entering and driving near work zones, obey the posted speed limits, drive with extra caution, and be alert for workers and equipment.
