CDOT: Temporary Closure of Navy Pier Flyover for Final Striping Planned for June 24-27

The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) today announced that the new section of the Navy Pier Flyover that was opened in December will be closed for four weekdays next week, weather permitting, in order to complete permanent striping of the new section of the Lakefront Trail.  At the same time, work will be performed to connect the completed section of the flyover to the second segment which is currently under construction.

During this temporary closure, pedestrians and bicyclists will be re-routed onto the old route of the Lakefront Trail at street level across Illinois and Grand on Lower Lake Shore Drive.

The closure is expected to start at 7 a.m. Monday, June 24, and last until 3 p.m. Thursday, June 27.

Also next week, CDOT said there will be a closure of the far right lane on northbound Upper Lake Shore Drive on one weekday during off peak hours, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for delivery of steel for the Flyover project. This is expected on Tuesday, weather permitting.

The opening of the second segment that is now under construction is expected in late summer.
