The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) announced that, beginning Monday, May 16 there will be daily closures of the bridge at LaSalle Street to replace a center lock that has been out for repairs since last year. This bridge repair must be completed prior to finishing the final stretch of Riverwalk, which is scheduled to open this fall.
Northbound motorists can turn right on Wacker Drive and use Dearborn to cross the river and then turn on Kinzie Street back to LaSalle. As alternate, northbound motorists can turn left on Wacker Drive and use Franklin to cross the river and then turn on Hubbard Street back to LaSalle.
Southbound motorists can go east on Kinzie to Clark Street to cross the Chicago River and proceed back to LaSalle. As an alternate, southbound motorists can travel west on Kinzie to Wells, cross the Chicago River and proceed back to LaSalle.
The work will require the full closure of LaSalle Street during the day for approximately one week.
