For the first time ever, Divvy, Chicago’s popular bikeshare system, will release not one but two red bikes into its fleet of nearly 6,000 blue bikes. Dubbed the “Unicorn of Chicago” because of its rarity, #DIVVYRED will have an identical twin unicorn starting tomorrow when the pair of bikes are released onto City streets.
Find one of these bikes and post it to social media, and you could win a special Divvy prize package each week in August. The two bikes match the color of the stars in the Chicago flag, and feature the hashtag #DIVVYRED on their back fenders. Snap a photo of the bike and post it to Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook using the #DIVVYRED hashtag, and you’ll gain an entry into a weekly drawing to win a Divvy-themed package.
“Before PokemonGo, there was #DIVVYRED—the original real-life city-wide scavenger hunt,” said Elliot Greenberger, Divvy’s general manager. “We’ve been doing this contest annually since we launched in 2013, and it’s been a terrific way to get people excited about riding a bike. Biking is a unique form of transit that’s fun, joyful and healthy, and that’s what #DIVVYRED is all about.”
The prize package, estimated at $500, will be awarded the remain Twos-days (Tuesdays) of August and includes:
- Two Divvy memberships with exclusive *red* keys
- Two Divvy t-shirts
- Two Divvy sweatshirts
- Two Divvy water bottles
- Two Divvy keychains
- Two $20 gift cards
- Two 24-hour passes
Sense a theme? Everything is doubled. Since launching in 2013, Divvy has doubled in size, from covering 44 square miles of the city to now covering more than 100 square miles across Chicagoland with more than 580 stations (nearly double our original 300 stations).
And there’s a catch: Chicagoans who post a photo that includes both #DIVVYRED bikes in the same photo will receive five entries in the drawing.
