Chicago Recovery Plan Programs
About the Chicago Recovery Plan Grant Program 
The Chicago Recovery Plan (CRP) is the City of Chicago’s effort to amplify once-in-a-generation federal funding to invest in an equitable, sustainable economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Department of Planning and Development is responsible for distributing $338 million in CRP funding in three focus areas: community development, small business and workforce support, and community climate investments. The initiatives and strategic priorities that make up CRP were a result of several stages of community engagement and input during the 2022 budget development process.
Community Development Grants
The City of Chicago is committed to strengthening local commercial corridors and enhancing neighborhood vitality through the Community Development Grant (CDG) program. CDG funding supports local commercial, mixed-use and light manufacturing.
Climate Infrastructure Fund
Climate Infrastructure Fund grants support neighborhood projects that mitigate the effects of climate change and accelerate the city’s equitable transition to the green economy.
Equitable Transit-Oriented Development (ETOD)
The Equitable Transit-Oriented Development grant program is provides funding up to $250,000 and technical assistance to support community-led equitable development near transit.
Corridor Ambassadors Program
To ensure a strong recovery in commercial corridors, DPD provides funding to organizations to hire Community Ambassadors on major commercial corridors across the city.
Community Wealth Building Grants
DPD and Mayor’s Office of Equity and Racial Justice provide planning and pre-development grants up to $150,000 to support projects that promote the local, democratic, and shared ownership model of community assets.
Public Outdoor Plaza (POP!) program
The DPD's Public Outdoor Plaza (POP!) program is designed to help community-based organizations revitalize underutilized land along neighborhood retail corridors.
