A City of Chicago business license is required for entertainment-related activities.

A Public Place of Amusement license is required to produce, present, or conduct any type of amusement. Examples include live theaters, movie theaters, nightclubs or dancing, karaoke, pool halls, arcades, or renting out a facility for a party or event that is open to the public.

A City of Chicago Raffles license is required to conduct a raffle in Chicago, and may only be issued to bona fide religious, charitable, labor, fraternal, educational or veterans’ organizations which are located in Chicago and which operate without profit to their members, and which have been in existence continuously for five years immediately before applying for a Raffles License. The organization must be listed with the Illinois Comptroller as a charitable organization.
