Statement from Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot on Commissioner Frydland and First Deputy Superintendent Riccio Retirements
"I want to express my gratitude to Commissioner Frydland for her three decades of service to Chicago’s residents, businesses, and communities. In her role as head of the Department of Buildings alone, she leaves behind a legacy of strengthening City operations through modernizing our building codes, working with communities to maintain housing stock, and streamlining our permitting process. I join her many friends and colleagues in congratulating Commissioner Frydland on her well-earned retirement, and give her my best wishes as she and her family embark on this new chapter of their lives."
"First Deputy Superintendent Anthony Riccio captures the best in public service and the values of our Chicago Police Department. Through incredible highs and terrible lows, Tony has been a constant presence during my tenure as mayor as well as for the countless residents and community members he has served for 34 years. On behalf of our entire city, I want to express my deep, personal thanks for his commitment and generosity to our city, and for answering the call to service every day during his long and illustrious career. Though I am sorry to see him go, I am thrilled for him and his family as they set off this new phase of their journey."
