Statement From Mayor Rahm Emanuel On City Of Chicago Employment Growth
Mayor's Press Office 312.744.3334
“Today, we welcome the news that unemployment in Chicago has fallen to 6.2 percent – a more than 40 percent drop from 2011 and its lowest level since prior to the recession. Not only is Chicago’s unemployment rate lower than both Los Angeles and New York, but the city ranks second in the nation for the number of fast-growing small businesses, a sign that economic growth is focused on, and fueled by, our neighborhoods. While we still have work to do, the continued investments in our schools, infrastructure, and transportation will ensure that residents in neighborhoods across the City have the opportunities they need to thrive.”
