Viva, Mexico’s ultra-low-cost carrier, launches new international service connecting Chicago (ORD) to Mexico City (AIFA)

Mexico's ultra-low-cost carrier Viva announced today a new non-stop service connecting Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to Mexico City’s New International Airport, Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA).

Starting on November 13, this direct route will operate three times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Departing from Mexico City (NLU) at 6:10 PM, the flight arrives in Chicago (ORD) at 10:15 PM. The return flight departs ORD at 11:45 PM, landing back in Mexico City (NLU) at 4:00 AM.

This route continues strengthening Viva’s expansion into the US and the Midwest, offering travelers in the region more accessible options to connect with Mexico. Viva already operates regular flights from Chicago to León (BJX), Guadalajara (GDL), Mexico City (AICM), Morelia (MLM) and Monterrey (MTY).

Passengers traveling from Chicago to Mexico City will be able to connect to more than 30 domestic and international destinations operated by Viva at AIFA, where the airline is currently the main operator, with a total of 38 routes expected by the end of 2025.

They will fly aboard the youngest fleet in Mexico and 5th in all North America, consisting of 93 A320 and A321 CEO and NEO aircrafts, with the most flexibility and the best prices in the Mexican market.
