O’Hare International Airport Seeks to Hire 15 Airport Information Ambassadors to Improve Passenger Experience at World’s Second Busiest Airport

The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) is seeking to hire 15 customer service professionals as Airport Information Ambassadors as part of an ongoing effort to improve the passenger experience at the world’s second busiest airport, Commissioner Jamie L. Rhee announced today.
The posting, available at chicago.gov/careers, seeks candidates with one year of customer service experience who have conversational proficiency in three languages, including English. The position, which is union represented and based at O’Hare, does not require a high school or college degree. The starting salary is $47,532 and includes a full suite of City of Chicago benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, paid vacation and sick time, and a City pension plan.
“The customer experience is near and dear to my heart, as I began my long career of public service as an airport ambassador at O’Hare more than 30 years ago,” said Commissioner Rhee of the CDA, which owns and operates both O’Hare and Midway International Airports. “Airports are the first and last impression that visitors have of our great city, and our customer service team looks forward to providing world-class service to travelers that befits our world-class city.”
Airport Information Ambassadors hired by the CDA will perform a wide variety of customer service tasks, including:
- Staffing information booths at all four of O’Hare’s terminals
- Answering airport questions and providing directional assistance to both English speaking and non-English-speaking individuals
- Promoting and distributing informational materials regarding City events, programs, landmarks, and attractions
- Escorting dignitaries, foreign consulates, and performers throughout the airport
