The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) is proud to announce that O’Hare International Airport was named “Favorite Airport Dining” for the fourth consecutive year in the ninth annual Trazee Awards from trazeetravel.com, a division of Global Traveler written for and by travelers age 25-40.
“On behalf of Mayor Brandon Johnson, all of us at the CDA are honored that Global Traveler and Trazee readers continue to recognize the world-class flavors of Chicago that are available at the diverse concessions locations throughout O'Hare International Airport," said Commissioner Jamie L. Rhee. “With a wide range of dining options available in our terminals, Chicago visitors can sample the unique flavors of our world-class city on their way home, or even if they are just joining us for a connection.”
The award, announced today on trazeetravel.com, will be published in the August issue of Global Traveler. An award ceremony and reception will be held August 15 during the Global Business Travel Association convention in Dallas, Texas.
The CDA continues to expand food and beverage options at O’Hare, with an outpost of local favorite eatery The Dearborn announced last month for the newly renovated and expanded Terminal 5. The restaurant, expected to open in the first half of 2024, will join a number of new offerings as part of the $1.3 billion revamp of Terminal 5 that added 350,000 square feet, 10 gates, and modernized the existing space when the new eastern extension opened earlier this year. Other brands planned for Terminal 5 include Chick-fil-a, Protein Bar, Hampton Social and Bar Sienna.
"As any traveler can tell you, airport dining has become more and more competitive, which is great news for the consumer as it's a critical element of the airport experience. Winning Favorite Airport Dining for the fourth consecutive year in The Trazees from trazeetravel.com proves Chicago O’Hare International Airport understands that, as one of the busiest airports in the world, you must have the best services to support those waiting for flights and connections. Kudos to the airport for getting it right," said Francis X. Gallagher, publisher and CEO, FXExpress Publications, Inc., which publishes trazeetravel.com.
The recognition comes on the heels of strong years for awards at Chicago’s airports. In 2022, O’Hare was named the most connected “megahub” airport in the world by aviation research group OAG, O’Hare’s first return to the top spot since 2016. O’Hare and Midway were also named the Airport Minority Advisory Council’s (AMAC) Airport of the Year and the Hispanic American Construction Industry Association (HACIA) named the CDA its Agency of the Year.
