35th/Wallace TIF

The 35th/Wallace TIF district was designated to assist the conversion of outdated industrial land uses for new residential and commercial development, particularly along 35th Street and Pershing Road. The 114-acre district is also designed to facilitate private investment in vacant land east of Halsted Street for purposes that cater to residents' needs. Other key objectives include the improved appearance of transportation corridors that lead to the nearby Stockyards Industrial Park and improvements to the Chicago Housing Authority's Wentworth Gardens public housing complex.
