Community Development Grants
The City of Chicago helps support business and neighborhood vitality through Small, Medium and Large Community Development Grant (CDG) awards. CDGs use proceeds from the 2024 Housing and Development Bond and other funding sources to support a variety of eligible, business-related investments that create and maintain jobs and quality-of-life improvements for local residents.
Applications are open to business owners, property owners, non-profit organizations, community developers and entrepreneurs.
Small: Up to $250,000
For office, retail, light industrial and mixed-use projects.
Small applications will reopen in 2025.
Medium: $300,001 to $5 million
For office, retail, cultural, industrial, institutional and mixed-use projects.
Deadline: 11:59 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2025
Large: $5 million and up
For office, retail, cultural, industrial, institutional and mixed-use projects.
Applications accepted on a rolling basis
Small
CDG-S will reopen for applications in 2025.
CDG-Small grants are provided as a reimbursement for up to 75% of the total eligible project expenses with a maximum grant of $250,000. Potential applicants are encouraged to attend an information session.
