From a career spanning five decades of agilely investigating forms with tactile media, the mostly recent works by Dorothy Hughes are all inspired by the natural environment. Movement is constantly in play, not only in the dynamic interaction of light and shadow but also with the recurring symbols of ladders and fences that further imagine the concept of depth.
