The HFS Family Planning Program covers many sexual health services at no cost for qualifying people of all ages and genders. This includes:
- All FDA-approved forms of birth control (including tubal ligation and vasectomy),
- Sexually transmitted infections (STI) testing and treatment,
- Screening mammograms,
- and more!
Early Postpartum Care for YOU
After you give birth, there are a LOT of checkups for baby, but don't forget about YOU. The '6-week checkup' is no longer best practice.
Everyone who gives birth should see a provider within the first 3 weeks, and again within 12 weeks. Medicaid covers both of these visits, so enroll now.
Urgent Maternal Health Warning Signs
Pregnancy and childbirth can cause serious health issues up to 1 year after delivery. Knowing what to look for could save a life- your partner, loved one, even your own. Get medical care right away for:
- Headache that won't go away or gets worse over time
- Extreme swelling of hands or face
- Chest pain or fast beating heart
- Trouble breathing

The top 3 causes of pregnancy-associated death in the U.S. are homicide, suicide, and substance use (drug overdose). Pregnancy-associated means death within 1 year of pregnancy caused by something OTHER than the pregnancy.
