Divvy is Chicago’s city-owned bike and scooter sharing system. Since 2013, Divvy has served Chicagoans by offering low-cost, short-term device rentals to provide a convenient and sustainable way of navigating the City without a car. As of June 2024, the system now has more than 17,000 bikes, 1,500 e-scooters, and 950 docking stations. Using Divvy is simple: rent an available bike or scooter, ride it to your destination, park the device, and be on your way!

Divvy is great for making shorter trips to and from the train, the bus, work, school, the grocery store, the park, or to see family and friends. Some riders use Divvy multiple days per week while others rent a bike or scooter only occasionally. No matter where you’re going or what you’re doing, though, Divvy provides an additional way to get to where you need to be.

  • Start and end trips at any Divvy station OR lock up at any legal bike parking space (extra fees apply)

EXPANSION

Since Divvy was launched in 2013, the system has grown and evolved to better meet residents’ needs. As of May 2023, Divvy is available in all 50 wards, meaning that no matter where you’re traveling to in Chicago, you can get there on a Divvy bike. However, to make the system even easier to use, CDOT and Lyft are adding hundreds of new stations to provide new and improved mobility options for residents in every neighborhood. Currently, Divvy is strengthening its network and improving its service by:

  • Adding new stations in the Northwest, Southwest, and Far South Sides of the city to expand into new neighborhoods and increase the density of stations in areas already served by Divvy.
  • Converting e-bike-only parking stations to traditional Divvy stations so that residents will have more options to choose their preferred device.
  • Conducting extensive community engagement to select sites for new stations.
  • Adding nearly 3,000 new classic bikes to the fleet.
