Chicago is on track for another unprecedented year of growth - with 60 cranes in the air!
Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the Department of Buildings today announced that the city is poised to issue permits for two more tower cranes to be erected at 845 W. Madison St. This puts Chicago on track to have 60 tower cranes operating in the city for the second straight year - an unprecedented figure.
The back to back years of 60 tower cranes operating in the city mark a 400 percent increase since 2010.
The two new crane permits will help build a block-sized project featuring 586 residential apartment units and 11,000 sq. ft. of ground retail across two 17-story buildings in Chicago’s booming West Loop. Another crane is expected to be erected at 110 N. Wacker Dr. later this year.
