Mayor Brandon Johnson's administration set a vision to create a more collaborative government to bridge the gap between government and community and disrupt long-standing mistrust between both groups. Our office has partnered with Chicago United for Equity (CUE) to embark on a journey to realize Mayor Johnson’s vision. In September 2023, OERJ and CUE hosted government and community partners to engage in a conversation about creating a shared definition of co-governance. In this convening, participants heard from leaders in three different major cities and learn from their approaches to co-governance at the local level.
